Conditions U-V-W-X-Y-Z

The majority of these Testimonials were provided by a cross-section of patients attending the South Downs Acupuncture clinics in 2013, who were happy to tell their stories for others to see, when this new website was first published. They have supplied their names, addresses and signature on their original letters, and have given their full approval for publication.

Using acupuncture was my last attempt at relieving chronic Urticaria; I had tried everything else! The condition is a highly debilitating skin allergy which was worsening every year. There is no treatment under the NHS, so I had gone privately to an allergy clinic. After several visits, I had received a long list of things I was allergic to, but nothing to treat the condition other than antihistamines. These did nothing at all to relieve the symptoms.

A friend then recommended Philip Holmes and after many promptings I went to see him, although I held out little hope of any success. After a course of five treatments, the condition had improved remarkably and another two treatments cleared it up completely.

As allergic reactions can strike at any time, I now have regular three-monthly treatments which have kept me virtually free of the condition. To me, Philip is a truly amazing practitioner and at the very top of the tree. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anybody. What I would say though is that some ailments do not respond immediately, so do not expect miracles on one or two visits, even Philip needs time!

I have known Philip Holmes for over 13 years, initially consulting him for constriction of the urethra, a condition which I was born with and suffered with all my life. He treated the symptoms which relieved the condition for several years, but inevitably, an operation became unavoidable, which fortunately for me was successful. After that, I continued to see him for various other problems and after the death of my mother, he treated me for subsequent mental health problems, which proved a great help.

Two years ago, I was taken ill with a perforated oesophagus and rushed to St Thomas’s Hospital, London, where I spent three and a half months, which included two months in intensive care. Against all expectations, I pulled through, and it was thought the fact that I was pretty fit before I became ill was a major contribution to my recovery. I feel that my fitness is certainly in part, due to the fine efforts of Philip in building up my powers of healing over the years prior to the event.

Since then, he has presided over my continued recovery, also successfully treating the arthritis in my right wrist, where I now get no pain and which now seems virtually normal. I am now in my early 70’s and still regularly attend Philip’s clinic, where any of my problems are skilfully dealt with. He is an extremely competent and caring medical practitioner, who I would certainly recommend to anyone.
